As part of the intake process, a health services screening will be completed. If the youth requires medical or dental attention, he will be referred to the appropriate entity as soon as possible. Hands of Healing has established formal affiliations with local hospitals and health care agencies.
All non-emergency psychiatric or mental health services are coordinated through the Hands of Healing contractual psychiatrist.
The Psychiatrist’s duties include assisting the development of services plans and providing information to the Service Team. This will aid the Service Team in updating and revising the Service Plan according to the resident’s needs. The Psychiatrist will also provide the needed evaluations and consultations as well as monitor medication on a monthly basis.
The Psychologist provides individual counseling to residents and provided feedback to the Service Team regarding plans and evaluation of the service goals of the youth. He shares accurate case documentation as required. The Psychologist also attends Service Team meetings and reports on residents progress. The Psychologist is employed on a consultative basis as needed, and is available for emergency calls 24 hours a day. The Psychologist is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
